Recently he has been working on belowground carbon pools. Under long-term field conditions, soil organic carbon and nitrogen mineralization related to CO2 flux are the main working areas. At the moment, he is working on the effect of vouchers on the citrus tree plant’s carbon budget and soil carbon sequestration.
So far, he has been to over 43 countries for joint scientific meetings. Also, give conferences and talk at scientific congresses. He has completed 7 COST actions, 3 EU- project, 3 State Planning Organizations projects, 29 (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) TÜBİTAK, and 54 national projects. Professor Ortaş is teaching; Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, The Rhizosphere's Ecology, The Impacts of Mycorrhizae on Nutrient Uptake, The Interaction Between Soil, Crop and Atmosphere in Relation to Climate Change and Soil-Crop Management. In addition, he is teaching Soil History and Agriculture. Academic Ethics and Scientific Methods. Hi is responsible for the Agriculture Research farm of the Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition.
Prof. Dr. Ortas published 94 SCI full articles, and two books, 28 book chapters, total published over 598 articles. Organized six international meetings and workshops. He’s articles cited 1613, H-index is 22.
Prof. Dr. Ortas also is a free-hand writer. He has written over 1200 articles on education, the philosophy of science, the environment, and sustainable life. Generally, he produces human- and nature-centred views and thoughts and gives speeches to different communities.
